Radar

The RYA has made radar knowledge a key component of all Yachtmaster exams.

There isn´t enough time on a Yachtmaster course to teach radar from scratch, so if you have very little or no knowledge of radar, the simplest way to ensure you’re ready for this section of the exam is to complete the RYA 1 day Radar course.

The course is a good introduction and teaches you to use plotting sheets, as well as how to adjust the unit for a clearer picture.

This 1 day Radar theory course is popular on both sailing & motor boats, and is a valuable aid for navigation & collision avoidance. A radar is only useful in the hands of a knowledgeable operator.
