Course content

International regulations for preventing collisions at sea, safety, boat handling, general seamanship, responsibilities of skipper, navigation, meteorology, signals and much more

Pre-course experience / requirements

  • 50 days, 2,500 miles, 5 passages over 60 miles acting as skipper for at least 2 of these passages and including 2 which have involved overnight passages. 5 days experience as skipper. At least half this mileage must be in tidal waters. All qualifying sea time must be within 10 years prior to the exam.
  • VHF Certificate and a Valid First Aid certificate
  • For Commercial endorsement you will also require a Sea Survival certificate and an ENG1 Medical
